The Kingsport Housing & Redevelopment Authority is composed of 583 units of family and elderly housing, 1,240 units of Section 8 and is the property manager for 24 units at Green Valley Manor located in Northeast Tennessee. Our public housing is made up of six (6) primary developments: Lee, Riverview, Cloud, Dogwood, Holly Hills and Tiffany Court.
We also manage an assisted elderly development, consisting of 48 units at Holston Terrace, funded under the Section 8/202 program. Roughly, the Kingsport Housing & Redevelopment Authority is providing housing assistance for over 3,000 persons.
The City of Kingsport has an estimated population of 44,000; however, the population would easily double if the boundaries of the city were extended no more than one mile. Kingsport has a diverse economic base anchored by Eastman Chemical Company, a Fortune 500 company. The public housing communities in Kingsport are situated in diverse sections of the city, and are all located near major transportation arteries.
